Christmas Show Stoppers –

Noel and red bag

For most of us, thinking about Christmas on a sweltering hot day in July just shouldn’t be done. Nevertheless, taking a sneak-peek preview of’s upcoming Christmas collection was hard to resist – and for the record, we left in surprisingly festive spirits (only 5 months to go!). The mulled wine slushies may have helped with the seasonal crossover, and we were soon imagining dancing to Mariah Carey in a show-stopping outfit at our next Christmas party.

As you can expect from a Christmas season range; sparkle, sequins, velvet, fur and jewel colours were big themes. Christmas is a time of year when more is notoriously more, especially when it comes to party wear. We can see the boohoo designers ran with this idea and had fun experimenting with the most show-stopping trends, while injecting some Christmas playfulness into every piece.

We snapped away at all the outfits that caught our eye and have compiled our favourites to give you a snapshot of what to expect (and what you need to get your hands on first) in the coming months .

Apologies if it’s too early for you. We will of course give updates closer to the time gold dress

The first thing that screamed CHRISTMAS to us as we walked in, was the ultra cool and simplistic Nöel top (pictured above). We’re fans of a direct slogan tee, and we can imagine wearing this one as an alternative ‘Christmas jumper’. We love how it has been styled here with sequinned palazzo pants and layered silver chokers.

Another standout outfit was the floral red and gold embossed dress and jacket set (pictured above). The structured material felt extremely luxe and we can see this being flattering for most body shapes. The gold and red combination makes it an instant classic Christmas look.

silver studded skirt

A key AW15 trend we saw frequently throughout the collection was the armoured inspired look. If you envied all the outfits in Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood video, this one’s for you. Think studs, chain metal effect materials and structured shapes. This silver studded A-line skirt is one of the more wearable pieces which can be dressed up or down, while still making a statement.

Textures! In winter we don’t mind being wrapped up in layers of material, the thicker the better! Embossed effect pleated skirts are comfortably structured but still give a good swish. Very glad we got to see all these lovely textures in the flesh as you sometimes can’t get the same effect from product images alone. This season boohoo has some lovely textures perfect for the festive season so look out for them in the product descriptions!

If you’re looking for a standout OOTD which can tick multiple trend boxes, this is the one (pictured above). The coloured striped sequinned skirt is a party showstopper and can be dressed down with a casual tee. We saw many of the street style crowd wearing the coloured fur scarf last year and this year we can see it becoming a lot more mainstream. To up the fashion ante, clash it with other coloured pieces like the sequinned skirt above.

Boohoo gold dress

For that extra-special occasion, this barely-there ultra glam maxi dress is ideal. Remember Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez at the Gala Ball?? Yes the appearance of showing (or hinting) at what’s underneath is a thing right now. We’ve been told this particular dress will have a subtle beige lining to make it a much more wearable piece. The sequin detail is really impressive in the flesh and look a lot more expensive than what we expect boohoo to price it at.pompom bag

We couldn’t resist this super cute pom pom bag, definitely going on our Christmas wish list.

red dress

This red dress (pictured above) really caught our eye as a classic Christmas party dress.  We can imagine the plunge back with bow detailing will be a head turner. This is one which will have us dancing around to Mariah Carey for sure!

The strappy heel is going nowhere for AW15. Indulgent colours and shimmery textures will make them Christmas party ready.

Another attention grabbing piece we had to feature, is this colourful striped number, reminiscent of 70’s/80’s disco nights. We saw footage of a model wearing this on the catwalk and we can confer – it looks amazing.

As you can see, we’re a fan of pom poms, and we can’t wait to add some fun to our Christmas outfits with some pom pom accessories.

Although we have 5 months to go, we hope we’ve helped you get your head around some of the AW15 trends to look out for in the coming Christmas collections. We’ve always loved the choice of Boohoo’s party wear and with such affordable prices, you can’t get much better when faced with a busy party season.
