The Return of The Double-Breasted Jacket

Doubling Down with Double-Breasted Blazers

London Collections: Men, Pitti Oumo 86, Milan Fashion Week and now Paris Fashion Week; we’ve rifled through so many streetstyle snaps in the past couple of weeks it’s making our collective heads spin. One trend that’s been building momentum for a couple of years is the return of double-breasted blazers, and we can conclusively say: we’re digging it. Forgetting the jacket’s dodgy past affiliations, it’s just one of those cyclical things that’s always easier to swallow than, say, the anti-fashion statement of Birkenstocks n’ socks or everyone choosing to ignore the insurmountable ugliness of the Reebok Instapump Fury.

We’ll always welcome variety and individual expression when it comes to tailoring, because no matter how out there their approach may be, the wearer always retains a modicum of respect for the suit.

The dressier of the formal blazers, it’s surprising to see the double-breasted jacket being pulled off over a t-shirt or casual Hawaiian. It’s certainly working for some.
